Read their story

George & Margaret Robins, with five sons arrived in Albany on the Opawa in 1911, having been shipwrecked off St Helena on the Papanui. On arrival, George worked as a boat builder. Son Walter joined the AIF in 1914 and served throughout WWI. He was wounded three times. Married Frances in 1918. Won the Distinguished Conduct Medal. Killed in action in 1918.
