During the voyage to Fremantle, Hilda met Alice Chapman and they became lifelong closest friends. Hilda enrolled at Nedlands Primary School in April 1913. She married Leonard James Drew in 1933 and they had two children, Norma and Peter. Hilda remained in Nedlands for most of her life.
