The Salvation Army had chartered the vessel, and Tom, a Bandmaster in Blyth Corps was asked to form a Brass Band to entertain the passengers and to provide music in the Church Services. Many lasting friendships were made on the journey. A welcome function was conducted at the Albany Town Hall.

I am at present compiling the biography of a wonderful gentleman who went over to Australia on the same ship, The Vedic in 1926, arriving in '27. At 102 he is sharing his story with me! best wishes Diana Jackson dianariduna@yahoo.com
