The Salvation Army had chartered the vessel, and Tom, a Bandmaster in Blyth Corps was asked to form a Brass Band to entertain the passengers and to provide music in the Church Services. Many lasting friendships were made on the journey. A welcome function was conducted at the Albany Town Hall.
