Josip Ravlić was born in Kozica on 5 August 1952, second son of Ivan and Dobroslava (nee Maras - dec). He migrated to WA at age of 10. Josip is brother to Mladan, Jasna, Ljiljanna and Marijana. He is married to Jadranka (nee Sunjic) and has three children, Ivona, Tanja and Ivica.
