Armando arrived in WA to join father Carlo, who had arrived 3 years earlier and was working as a chef in a Perth hotel. Armando found work as a kitchen hand at an Italian restaurant. His mother, Germina and sisters Ginetta & Elia & brother Elio arrived 3 years later. The family settled in James St, Perth.
