Carlo was very ill with sea sickness during the voyage to Australia, so much so he was taken off the NEPTUNIA on a stretcher and taken straight to Fremantle Hospital by ambulance. He settled in Fremantle where he still lives today. He married in 1968 to Lucia Clementina Pittorino and had three daughters. He has four grandchildren. Carlo worked as a roofing carpenter. He has returned to visit Italy twice, but now calls Fremantle home.
