Giovanni Prestipino was born on 24 June 1928, the second youngest of 6 children. At 25, he emigrated to Australia. One sister and one brother were already here. He moved to Wundowie and worked as a labourer at the Iron and Steel Foundry. He returned to Perth and worked as a cleaner for Westrail until his retirement in 1992. He married Lina Giuppa in 1956 and they had 3 children - Joe (1958), Rosetta (1960) and Maria (1969).
