On arrival to Australia with her son and daughter, she joined her husband at Big Bell. Two months later when the war broke out, the men were interned leaving her and her young daughter behind as many others with no money and no English. There was great joy and relief when 3 months later her son returned home. When her husband was relocated to Jarrahdale the family moved there so they could be together for weekend visits.
