After arriving in Australia, unaccompanied, aged 16, Ned began at Bruce Rock, clearing land with a team of horses. Following his marriage to Eva in 1936 Ned settled in Geraldton, beginning a 30 year association with the town. Hard work and enthusiasm resulted in his developing many business activities in the town which he loved.
