William Roper Piesse farmed Northam until 1850 - Police Constable Toodyay 1851: Northam 1852: Guildford 1864: Sub Inspector Northam 1865 - 1878: retired from Police Force. Sheep Inspector: Magistrate (Newcastle) Toodyay 1880. Married Colonial born Elizabeth Ellen Oxley 1850 York - eleven sons (many were successful businessmen, politicians, three daughters). Apprenticed to Mrs Elizabeth Short.
