  • Lithuanian born Mother Elsie with children Michael, Adam, Evie, Elsie and Ruth arrived at Freemantle after the American Services released them from the German camps at the end of the war. As displaced persons, they signed a contract with the Australian govt and were sent to camps and to work for their keep. The boys worked in the timber mills and the girls were sent out to hotels in towns like Kellerberin and Boyup Brook working as maids. After their time was worked, the family made Perth their home and was forever grateful for the freedoms this bright, sunny and happy new country of Australia gave them. God Bless Australia!
