First worked in Noggerup clearing bushland, then as a coal miner in Collie. Later sent for his family, wife Luisa and children Giampiero (13 years), Mirella (11 years) and Piergiorgio (5 years). They arrived in 1953. Settled in Collie where Giuseppe continued to work in the coal mines until he rerired.
