From a family of 11 children. Joined the RAF near the end of WWI, the worked on railway. Aged 24, emigrated with two friends. Worked with the '100 Group' at Northcliffe. Journeyed to Perth & employed by Frank Parry senior in furniture manufacturing. Married in 1929 to Vera May Bennett.
