We meant to go to Melbourne, but a VW Manager in Perth offered my husband a job as a mechanic, so we stayed in Perth and never regretted it. Our 2 children are married here and happy in WA. Sadly my husband died so early.

  • My family planned to go to Melbourne when leaving Bremerhaven in January 1960. We arrived in Fremantle in February 1960, I think it was the 25th - I was only a young child then - where we got off the MS Aurelia because my dad was offered a job by VW in Perth as well. He worked there as a spray painter for some time. What a coincidence!
