Malachi, an ex-convict that made good, was Chairman of the Guildford Municipal Council and Swan Roads Board. He owned property in Guildford and Bassendean and lived to see his family, apart from one son who died, marry and do well. He died aged 73 and lies buried at Bridgetown.
