Matthew worked underground in the mines until he joined the Education Department as a Manual Arts teacher in 1953. In 1954 the family moved to Perth. Phemie worked at Boans, Jean at Commonwealth Bank for 36 yrs. Gilbert completed a doctorate & became Associate Professor at Curtin University.
