The Maydwell family were servants to Mr George Leake. It is believed that Robert was a gardener. Apparently 1831-1832 he was appointed as a local constable then 1832-1837 became a parish clerk within the Church of England in Fremantle. He also conducted burial services. In 1832, on the 17th June his wife Susannah died. His daughter Susannah (about 1815 - 16/07/1893) married William Lewington (about 1802 - 16/07/1869) who was also an early settler arriving on the Lotus on 23/10/1829. They married on 27/08/1832.

Robert and Susannah Maydwell were my direct ancestors. Their daughter Susannah Maydwell married William Lewington, and the daughters of Susannah Junior and William Lewington - Harriett Lewington and Maryanne Lewington were both my great, great grandmothers. Harriett Lewington's daughter Mary married Angel De San Miguel, and Maryanne Lewingtons daughter Emma Hucthins married Edward Taylor.

The Maydwells were my 5x grandparents on both my maternal and paternal family tree. Harriett's daughter from her first marriage, Mary, married Angel de San Miguel, my fathers grandparents and a daughter from Harriett's marriage to Postans, Emma, married John Mortimer - my mother's grandparents. My parents were third cousins, once removed. complex!

Who is Edward Green that Harriet Lewington? There is record of an Edward Green having a fight with William Lewington. So Harriets husband had melee with his father inlaw.
There appears no record of Edward Green in convict records, or other transportation records.
Who is Edward Green? Harriet Lewingtons (Postans) first husband.

The information I have about Harriet Lewington states that she married Edwin (NOT Edward) GREEN on 13 April 1852 in Fremantle. The different first name may help track him down further.

It is correct that Harriet was first married to Edwin Green, from my understanding he died in 16/7/1869 (apparently drowned) and Harriet then went on the marry George Postans.

My maternal grandmother was Grace Brooks née Mortimer and the youngest child of William and Emma Mortimer née Postans.
