Stanko & Danica arrived in Australia with their son Martin in 1950. After a stay in Northam, they finally settled in South St, Fremantle. Stanko worked as a Builder & Danica at Arnott Mills & Wares. Another son, Robert, was born 16 years later.

Mrs Danica Maurich died on 23 July 2018 in Nedlands W.A. Danica departed Bremerhaven West Germany and arrived in Fremantle on 2 November 1950 The U.S.A. Navy transport ship M.L. Hersey took 25 days on the journey and ship arrived with her husband and baby as United Nations Refugee status. They lived their whole life in the Perth Metropolitan area and also later travelled the Eastern States and visited her brother in Toronto Canada. The were in hindsight happy to have lived and raised their family in Australia. Both their married sons Martin and Robert graduated from University. Danica and her husband are both buried at Fremantle Cemetery
