After being conscripted to the army and upon release he came to Australia for a better future and to be with family members who came in 1923. Arrived aged 22 and married aged 28 to Doreen Evelyn Gillam November 1933. Six children, Charles Stanley (deceased), Anthony, John, Norman, (deceased) Bruce James, Susanne (married name Vukojich.)
