On arrival, Pietro was taken to Williams, given a tent and axe to cut timber for railway sleepers. From this start went to work in Wiluna area fencing (on stations) then bought car and worked as taxi driver. In 1941 house was burnt down by some Australians and Police Sergeant helped family move to Norseman.
