Amelio worked at the Quinninup Saw Mills. 11 months later he paid for his wife, Anna Maria Madrigali, and his son, Franco Madrigali, to join him in Australia. He later moved to South Coogee where he had full time work, a market garden and by then, they had 5 sons.
