John Mackinlay was a plumber in Debeers Dynamite Factory. He married Sarah Hooks in Somerset, West South Africa. First child - Margaret (Greta) & second child - Archibald. Sarah & children came from Capetown - first on the 'Commonwealth' diverted to Adelaide because of submarine scare. Then on to Albany 20th October 1916 on SS Katoomba.
