Joyce and her parents sailed on the Oronsay, to join her brother John in Pithara. She met John MacKenzie during the voyage. They courted for 3 months and were married in July 1955. Settling in Byford to run a dairy farm, they had 4 children, Joyce, Kay, Roger & Alison.
