Towards the end of WWII, Dad had defected from the Lithuanian Army to avoid being murdered by the invading Nazis. He escaped & enlisted to train with the Germans. At the conclusion of the war Dad was sent to a displaced persons camp & took up an option to come to Fremantle on the ship SS Goya.
