Giovanni, son of Basso Ludovico & Teresa (nee Marzola) worked on the family farm until he was conscripted in 1938. He fought in WWII in North Africa & was a POW in USA. In 1956 he decided to immigrate to Australia & met his future wife, Bernice Perazzelli on the ship.
