  • Louden is my mothers maiden name. Her father William Louden (dob 1894?) came out late 1890s from Perth, Scotland. settled northern Victoria, farming. Very likely a relative? Wonderful to see history on welcome wall!

  • Hello, So pleased to see your message, sorry it took me so long to find it.
Every branch it seems has a William, thankfully, as so few seem to have had a Henry, in Australia that is. I lived in Victoria for 8 school years and even spent some time on a dairy farm. Would love to hear more details from you but not sure how all of this works. I don't have a webpage. They say above that email address is kept private but if you reply to this then perhaps I shall just put it in my next reply.

  • Sorry my reply took even longer this time. Yes, every branch of every family seems to have a William for whom so many seek. I have not found any other link to Montrose. Unconfirmed info is that their "Scots" ancestor was an engineer who built a bridge in Poland and later perhaps had something to do with a port in Albany of Fremantle. Seems to be a generation or 2 missing. A possible unconfirmed link also with Loudons of Ayrshire. Have you found any more information? Family have a history of various spellings of "Lou/n/w/d/e/o/n" with some of those going to US favouring Louden. Henry and presumably William also visited America. Henry apparently ordered plants from all over the world. I did not know of William until the 1990s. Have you found any more information? Mary Regts
