Read their story

Mr Jānis & Ilma Lorencs, their children, Judite b.31/01/1937, Juris 03/10/1940 & Tekla 23/03/1942 fled from Latvia in 1945 to Germany, before the Russian takeover. They spent the next four years within the American Zone & were able to migrate to Australia under Free Passage, two year work contract with the government. They arrived in 1949. Jānis was assigned to work on the railway. Jānis & family lived in tents at "Lomos" near Corrigin, Western Australia.
