Jozef and Else arrived in Fremantle with 3 year old Gabrielle and one suitcase. They stayed at the Northam Migration Camp then transferred to Bodallin where Jozef worked for the Railways. They had 4 more children, Shirley, Peter, Eddie and John. Jozef later worked for the Bayswater and Perth Councils.
