The family spent their arrival night at the Premier Hotel & travelled by train to Perth the next day. Richard had been appointed Driver In Charge of North Fremantle Railway Yards, as one of the few selected men by WAGR. Son Alfred, died June 1897. The family then shifted to Midland Junction Railway Yard (WAGR). They lived at Midland.
