Nine-year-old Steve arrived in Geraldton a few days after docking at Fremantle with his mother, Christine and brother James who were met by Louis Karapetcoff, his dad who had settled in Western Australia earlier. Steve married Nicki Ilias in 1951 and they had four children - Chris, Christine, Louis and Sophia.
