Athanasios A Kaimakamis departed Greece (Elassona) in December 1965 to begin a new life in Australia, leaving behind his family of ten, and Mt Olympus where he worked as a shepherd. Thirty nine years later, he now has a wife (Anna), two children (Anastasios and Maria) and daughter-in-law (Susanna).
