Thomas' London family migrated to Transkei in 1908. Clarice's ancestors were 1820 settlers. After marrying they lived in Bechuanaland Protectorate and Zambia. In 1965 they retired to Durban, subsequently joining daughter Glenys Sefton in Perth. Daughter Brenda Huggins followed in 1987. Other children: Bruce (South Africa) and Judith Muchowski (Canada).
