Thomas John was a seaman, he sailed from Wales to Fremantle in 1853. Thomas met with Sarah Woodland during the voyage and they married in February 1854. Thomas was employed as a Night Warder at the Fremantle Convict Establishment a month later. Thomas and Sarah had 11 children. Sarah died in 1884 aged 49. Thomas continues as a warder until his retirement.
