Dragoslav chose to come to Australia in 1948 hoping for a better life after being a POW in Germany for 5 years. He worked in Harvey then Fremantle. He met Radojka Lukich in 1958 and later married in 1959 and had 3 children - Stevan, Petar & Tomislav.
