George and his mother joined his father Petros who had arrived in 1940 and whom he had not seen for 9 years. He attended Osborne Primary School and then later did a mechanics apprenticeship. He married Basiliki Klifunis in 1960 and had four children - Christina, Jim, Mary and Ann.
