John Hurst's eldest daughter Edith, married Joseph Talbot Hobbs who joined the Citizens Army & became Lt. General Sir Joseph Talbot Hobbs, whose statue adorns the Esplanade. Florence married Clive Hastings Napier & bore 3 sons but died at a young age in 1905. The sons all forged significant careers in Perth.
