The Hughes family, James & Edith, Chris, Marilyn & Howard arrived from England on the New Australia in July 1954, seeking a better life. After a brief stay with relatives they set up home at Innaloo. In 1959 the family relocated to Bandiana, Victoria after Jim joined the army. Janet was born in 1955 & Grant in 1961. Howard returned to live in Perth in 1966. Many grandchildren followed in later years.
