Harold, commonly known as Sonny, married Agnes Jessie Godfrey in 1940 and had two daughters Faye 1941 and Beryl 1946. He enlisted for WWII and saw active service in Bouganville. A lung haemorrhage in 1947 necessitated removal of 1 lung - major surgery in those days and many months in Hollywood Hospital.
