Joseph worked building Great Southern Railway, Beverley to Albany. The family of seven lived in tents. Mary pushed barrow five miles for water. Joseph lost left leg in work accident. Arrived Albany 1889 traveling in open railway trucks. Sparks burnt holes in clothes. No housing. Again lived in tents.
