Elsie married Warrant Officer, John Waghorn in 1930 and lived at Fort Forrest, North Fremantle. Transferred to Rottnest Island in 1935 and evacuated in 1941. A second posting of two years 1945. John installed guns for the army. Seasickness was a problem for Elsie as transport in those years was by boat ie: Henley, Dauntless, Zephyr, Emerald and the Army boat Wandoo.
