I was considered a minor when I applied to emigrate at 18 under my maiden name of Penny Robertson living in Norwich, England, so I was exempt from the usual fee of ten pounds. I had a great time on the four week journey to Australia from Southampton, culminating in being crowned Miss Castel Felice. On setting afoot in Fremantle I marvelled at the clear blue skies & brilliant sunshine & wrote back home to my family saying that "I've arrived in paradise!"
