Helena followed Henry Bateman to Australia leaving behind her master tailor and tailoress parents. Helena, a tailoress, worked at Bon Marche, Perth, before marrying Henry in 1914 and moving to farm at Aldersyde. Children: Alfred James, Leonard and Helena Beatris (now Mitchell). She died at an Aldersyde community picnic.
