Eldest daughter of Thomas & Ellen (Stainton). Departed London 5th August 1911 on the 'Papanui' which was shipwrecked on St Helena Island. Stayed six weeks. Resumed journey on the 'Opawa'. Employed as maid at Piesse's farm in Arthur River. Met Ernest Cake. Married in 1914 in Albany. Farmed at Kronkup raising sons Bill, Tom & daughter Violet.
