Terry eventually settled in Perth after spending 2 years working the gold mines in Kalgoorlie whilst living with his sister's family. He married Kathleen Evans in June 1961, followed by the birth of David, Christine, Lynda and Melissa. Terry was self-employed in a fish shop business for 25 years.
