Worked his passage to Perth (Guilford) where his brother Joe worked. Both moved to Bunbury. John worked at the Burlington Hotel. The owner of the hotel staked him the price of a truck to work on the Main Roads. John married Elsie Tyers 4th November 1931, moved to Collie and raised 12 children.

  • John was born at Conckera, Magheraveely Co Fermanagh. John dropped the letter E off the name Harte for 11 of his 12 children. John was also buried in Collie Western Australia with the Letter E dropped from the name Harte on his head stone.
