  • When James arrived, his brother William Alexander Rummer had been licensee of the Freemasons Hotel Fremantle from 1861.
As stated James married Sarah, she was the daughter of George and Sarah Campbell the publicans of the "Queens Head Inn" Pinjarra.
James became the publican of the "Queens Hotel" at Danadalup. He exchanged some Dandalup land for land in Pinjarra with a Dr.Benningfeld and built "The Exchange Hotel" and was the publican from 1874 to 1878.
