Jure left in the last ship to leave Yugoslavia, before the borders closed, as WWII was erupting. He fought for Australia during WWII and returned to his homeland in search of relatives when the war ended. He returned to Australia in 1951, settled in Spearwood, married, had 3 children, became a builder, a community leader and a grandfather.
