Joseph came to Australia alone, meeting the love of his life, Nellie Bell (18 yr old) in Meckering where they married in 1915. Attempted three farms (all failed) until finally settling in Mount Hampton, south of Southern Cross. He and his sons cleared the land by hand, creating the farm that his descendants still work today. He was also a layman preacher.
