Bernard Gilroy was a widower. He migrated to Western Australia in 1928 with his two small children, Mary Josephine 8yrs & Henry 6yrs. After arriving at Albany they traveled by train to Lake Biddy via Wagin where Bernard worked on a farm. The family later moved to Victoria Park where the children were fostered & Bernard went to work mining tin in Greenbushes. He later worked on the construction of the Wellington Dam in the south-west of Western Australia. Bernard Gilroy died at Subiaco in 1956.
