Later moved to Bassendean, served apprenticeship as moulder. Married Jean McEvoy 1928, moved to Maylands and started own foundry business in 9th Avenue, Maylands. Bult new foundry at 40 Tower St, Leederville in 1935. Became interested in sailing. Built many boats and established Maylands Yacht Club.
